St Mirren Football Club's players' tunnel at the SMiSA Stadium in Paisley has been fitted with a dedicated LED lighting setup for the players' walkout to the pitch.
Completed by Glasgow Electrical Testing, the project was designed to give the tunnel a separate lighting effect that could be activated specifically for matchdays, while retaining the club's existing lighting for normal use.
Ultra LEDs supplied the LED Strip, aluminium profiles and LED drivers for the installation, with Glasgow Electrical Testing responsible for the installation, additional spotlights and integration with the existing tunnel lighting.
A total of 20 metres of Tagra Professional COB 24V LED Strip was installed through the players' tunnel, with approximately 10 metres running along each side.
The LED Strip was fitted within Small Corner Aluminium Profile with diffusers. The corner profile allowed the installation to follow the shape and angled sections of the tunnel while directing the light into the space.
Using COB LED Strip behind the diffuser creates a continuous line of light without visible individual LED points, which was an important part of the finish required by the club.
Glasgow Electrical Testing also installed dedicated LED spotlights to illuminate the St Mirren crests on either side of the tunnel entrance.

Ultra LEDs supplied four 5 metre reels of Tagra Professional COB 24V LED Strip (PC24-RED-5M), ten 2 metre lengths of Small Corner Aluminium Profile with diffusers and two 24V 150W Constant Voltage LED Drivers.
A key part of the project was making the new lighting work alongside the club's existing tunnel lighting. Glasgow Electrical Testing designed and installed a bespoke matchday override arrangement, giving staff a simple way to switch between the two setups.
When matchday mode is activated, the new feature lighting switches on and the normal white tunnel lighting switches off. Once matchday mode is deactivated, the existing PIR-controlled lighting returns to normal operation.
The existing emergency lighting remains unaffected by the override, while the LED drivers and associated control equipment were installed out of sight.
With matchday mode activated, continuous lines of light run along both sides of the tunnel towards the pitch. The dedicated spotlights pick out the St Mirren crests at the entrance, while the club's existing graphics remain visible throughout the tunnel.
The result is a separate lighting setup that can be used specifically for the players' walkout without changing how the tunnel operates day to day. After the matchday setting is switched off, the existing PIR-controlled lighting simply returns to normal.
