NRGym has completed a full refurbishment of its 6,400 sq ft functional training facility in Keighley, with a new suspended RGBW lighting system installed throughout the gym.
Based at The Mill, NRGym had updated the training area several times over the years, but this project was planned as a complete overhaul. The aim was to modernise the space and introduce a lighting system that could provide practical white light for training while also allowing the gym to change colour.
Ultra LEDs worked with NRGym over the five-month planning process to develop the specification. The finished system uses RGBW Precision LED Tape installed within two sizes of suspended Tagra LED Profile, alongside RF controllers, four-zone wall control and 24V LED drivers.
Due to the scale of the space, a considerable amount of lighting was specified to provide consistent illumination throughout. Across the 6,400 sq ft floor, this helped maintain an even output with no visible joins or dark patches between runs.
NRGym wanted the lighting to perform two different roles within the gym. One part of the installation would be more functional, while the other would be used decoratively to change the look of the training space.
RGBW LED Tape was selected to provide both from the same system. Alongside RGB colour control, the tape includes a dedicated 4000K white channel, allowing NRGym to switch between colour-changing effects and white lighting.
The main lighting system uses RGBW 4000K CRI 90+ LED Tape installed within suspended aluminium LED profiles across the training area.
Approximately 66 metres of 35x35mm LED Profile was supplied for the project, housing the RGBW LED Tape to create suspended light bars across the gym.
A further 23 metres of 60x60mm Tubular LED Profile was supplied for the larger light bars, bringing the total amount of suspended profile across the project to approximately 89 metres.
The RGBW system is controlled using 12 Tagra RF 5-in-1 LED Controllers alongside a Tagra RGBW 4-Zone Wall Plate. This allows different areas of the gym to be controlled independently rather than changing the full installation at once.
The installation is powered by a combination of Tagra 24V LED Drivers and Mean Well 24V 600W LED Drivers, used across the different lighting runs.
NRGym's installation team completed the fitting and programming, with the customer describing both as straightforward once work started.
The mirror backlighting was added to the project on the day the installation started. Ultra LEDs prepared the additional lighting to specification and shipped it the following day, allowing it to be incorporated without holding up the project.
The additional RGBW lighting was installed behind the mirrors, adding colour-changing backlighting alongside the suspended light bars across the main training area.
With the installation complete, NRGym can use the 4000K white output for everyday training or switch to RGB colour to change the appearance of the gym.
The project will also help shape the lighting for another floor at The Mill, where NRGym plans to use a similar setup in the future.
From retail displays to office installations and cabinetry projects, Ultra LEDs supplies LED lighting systems to support the next specification.
