A Broadway Classic, Reimagined
Directed by Nicholas Hytner, the production shifted between New York street corners and Havana nightclubs, with the audience embedded within the action through a 360-degree promenade format.
As the show progressed, platforms moved in and out of the space to reshape the stage in real time. With no overhead rigging and a fully mobile central performance area, all scenic and lighting elements had to operate at floor level, remain concealed, and align precisely with programmed cue sequences.
The production earned critical acclaim for its choreography, direction, and promenade staging. Lighting accompanied every platform movement and scene change, using consistent low-level illumination embedded directly into scenic trims and risers.
