Harrow Place: Pecelec Studio

The Harrow Place Arches, a dynamic LED arch installation at the entrance of Devonshire Square Estate in Central London, features five pixel-mapped arches and Vertical Bend Neon Flex for seamless and durable illumination.

Designed by Acrylicize, the installation was brought to life by the Director of Pecelec Studio, with the support of Ultra LEDs’ high-performance lighting solutions.

An Introduction To The Harrow Place

Located in the heart of Central London, the Harrow Place project transforms a once ordinary passageway into a strikingly illuminated space. Featuring five vibrant LED arches, this installation seamlessly combines architectural design with a dynamic lighting scheme.

Designed and led by Acrylicize, the project brought their creative vision to life with the expertise of Pecelec Studio, responsible for delivering the technical lighting installation.

The scheme utilises Ultra LEDs’ IP68-rated LED neon flex, featuring factory-sealed, injection-moulded ends to ensure outdoor durability and a smooth, uniform light output.

To power and control the lighting, Advatek AS4 drivers were selected for their pixel-mapping capabilities, while Meanwell UHP-750-24 power supplies provided reliable performance and built-in protection.

Guided by Acrylicize’s vision of creating a “welcoming, concentric passageway into a calming oasis,” the lighting highlights the architectural features of the estate with a striking and functional design.

Ultra LEDs supplied the IP68-rated LED neon flex for this project, providing a high-performance, durable lighting solution suited to the demands of an outdoor installation.

Lighting The Arches

Installing the Harrow Place arches required a carefully planned process to ensure efficiency and precision.

The neon flex was pre-cut to exact lengths, streamlining the installation and minimising time spent on-site. Each pixel-mapped segment was aligned with precision to achieve smooth and dynamic animations that brought the design vision to life.

The installation team utilised a simplified cabling system, with Ethernet daisy-chaining reducing complexity and supporting seamless connectivity across the arches.

Designed to perform in outdoor conditions, the system integrated effortlessly into the structure, ensuring reliability and longevity in a demanding urban environment.

This process-focused approach allowed the team to deliver a visually striking lighting feature that balances technical excellence with aesthetic appeal.

Tagra 24V LED Neon Flex Vertical Bend – Chosen for its IP68 rating and factory-sealed, injection-moulded ends, ensuring durability in outdoor environments.

Advatek AS4 Driver – Selected for its ability to support up to 8 channels, simplifying the wiring process with daisy-chain Ethernet connections.

Meanwell UHP-750-24 Power Supplies – Used for its reliability and built-in overcurrent and overtemperature protection, making it ideal for high-demand installations.

Overcoming Installation Challenges

The project required durable, weather-resistant lighting. Ultra LEDs' IP68-rated Architectural Neon Flex, with factory-sealed injection-moulded ends, ensured long-term reliability in outdoor conditions.

Advatek AS4 controllers simplified wiring, supporting up to eight channels with Ethernet daisy-chaining to reduce cabling and speed up installation.

Power was managed using Meanwell UHP-750-24 power supplies, offering built-in overcurrent and overtemperature protection for reliable operation.

Pre-cutting the neon flex to exact lengths further simplified installation, ensuring the system fit seamlessly within the design.
